Tips to Stop Snoring

You want tips to stop snoring because:

- you snore and bother somebody,

- you snore and bother yourself, or

- you know-or-suspect that you suffer from obstructive sleep apnea.

This section of Men's Health Tips ( MHT ) deals with symptoms, causes, and cures for both snoring and obstructive sleep apnea.

I make noise when I sleep; isn't that the symptom?

Sure, but there are several more symptoms of just snoring - also, you'd want to know how bad your snoring is, compared to:

a) other people who don't snore (like your bed-mate... if you still have one)

b) other people who do snore

c) yourself a few years ago (i.e., is it getting worse?)

And there's the apnea thing.

Apnea. That's one of the major things that sends people looking for tips to stop snoring. That's the condition where your breathing gets stopped while you sleep, and you struggle and thrash around until it starts again. And you scare your bed-mate - at least, until s/he gets tired of the nightly drama and moves to another bedroom, or sends you packing, so s/he can get a night's sleep.

Apnea doesn't affect everybody who snores, but almost everybody who does suffer apnea also snores, and started snoring first, before it developed into apnea.

Apnea kills. You probably want to do something about it before it kills you. Tips to stop snoring are also tips to stop obstructive sleep apnea.

Save your marriage - if not your life

Snoring (without apnea) probably doesn't kill many people, but it definitely kills - or helps to kill - relationships. If you are trying to get somebody to hate the thought of "sleeping" in the same room with you... If you are trying to get somebody to associate the very sight and sound of you with exhaustion and relentless droning, snorting, buzzing, whining, blubbering interruption - or prevention - of their desperately needed sleep... then snoring is the way to do it.

If you want to go to bed every night wondering if the other person is going to finally snap tonight and kill you in your bed, being a frequent snorer is the way to do it. Snorers have a nasty habit of snoring, of course, but they have what comes to be perceived as an even nastier habit... they fall asleep first.

No human can help resenting that. Night after night after night.

So, you have come to this page because somebody - you or the person you live with - has had enough.

We have some pages describing the reasons that you snore, or the reasons that you might have apnea, and several pages about tips to stop snoring. Take a look.
