I was in the bathroom, and I was having some severe gas. I was bent over and was massaging my stomach to help the gas come out easier (I've got some fairly difficult strictures in my large intestine), and I must have twisted my spine a little, when I felt it... A searing jolt pain blinded me for a moment as my ribcage felt like it was collapsing on itself as one of the lower ribs, not connected to breast bone from the end, decided to break free from its boundaries of cartilage and muscle and pop on top of the rib above it, and then fall back. I was gasping for air for a little while after that, but thankfully the pain subsided fairly quickly.
I am 37, have Crohn's Disease, suffer from ostheoporosis due to Prednisolone medication and am severely malnourished and underweight, which probably was the main reason it happened because I have lost most of the muscle in my body due to years of steroid treatment and malabsorption on intestine.
I hope this will heal soon... I have to be very careful until then. The rib did fall back fairly well, all I can feel is a slight bump where the tip of the rib is, which is almost where it used to be. It doesn't hurt unless I twist my body, bend over or stretch or take a very deep breaths, or apply pressure on the area. I haven't seen a doctor yet, but I may have to if this keeps going on for long.
