The only way I can think mine gets dislocated is from laying on my side all the time and being over weight
EDitor sez: Yup. That'll do it. It might not have been the initial cause, but it will keep the problem coming back until you strengthen the supporting muscles.
It's not always true that being overweight signifies that a person is also out of condition in other ways, but it's usually the case.
Lying on your side puts deforming pressure on your rib-cage. Being seriously overweight magnifies that problem.
So, why lie on your side anyway? We do it to stop snoring. But by keeping our weight down and avoiding trigger foods and not getting over-tired, we've pretty-much eliminated the snoring, So we've been sleeping on our back for a couple of years, and have much less problem with our ribs, our shoulders, our neck, etc. Try it.
